(((( radio ))))Tune in this coming saturday, 17 March 2018, 9pm for a live stream of Armin Lorenz Gerolds' audio play 'Scaffold Eyes' as part of the current exhibition 'emic etic'.
Armin Lorenz Gerold’s 'Scaffold Eyes' is a 45 minute audio play that was produced for KW’s 'Compound' series in November 2017 and presented as a multi-channel installation and live performance. For 'emic etic', Gerold will temporarily use the exhibition space at Between Bridges as a recording studio and stream the audio play live via his website wirefoxterrier.info. Broadcasting after hours from the closed exhibition space, listeners are invited to tune in exclusively online, this coming Saturday, 17 March at 9pm (CET).
'Scaffold Eyes' traces the routes of four characters who narrate their wanderings through Berlin. Not following straight lines, their first person monologues oscillate between their observations, impressions and memories. Filtering these experiences, the cityscape echoes with their psychologial space in which dimensions appear distorted and city sounds blend into each other. From their eyes 'en route', the city seems in constant obstruction while reshaping itself. Scaffolds are everywhere, so to speak.
The audio play was written and concepted by the artist with additional writing and editing by Jennifer Hope Davy. Scaffold Eyes is spoken by Doireann O’ Malley, Miriam Stoney, Armin Lorenz Gerold and Mathis Anders Pedersen. Sounds & music by Armin Lorenz Gerold.Photos by Sarah Bohn

A project by BPA // Berlin Program for Artists
Scaffold Eyes For the series Compound, Austrian artist Armin Lorenz Gerold presents a format, which is situated between an installation, a performance, and a radio play. The work Scaffold eyes consists of two spatially separated areas, which are created by the installing of a semitranslucent canvas into the middle of the gallery space. Behind the screen, spoken texts are reproduced, which together with recorded and live sounds creates a backdrop and traces the movements in Berlins urban space. Voices, sounds, and musical elements serve to navigate the visitors and to explore the interweaving of analogous as well as virtual spaces, and identities.

Prototypes I'Wild – Transgender and the Communities of Desire'
Prototypes I by Doireann O’Malley (Sound composition for video installation), Edith-Russ-Haus für Medienkunst, Oldenburg, Germany (goo.gl/G5QsT2 )Doireann O'Malley's film Prototypes I brings together transgender studies, science fiction, biopolitics, psychoanalysis, AI, and experimental music. She skillfully ties these to phantoms of modernist utopias, epitomized by the postwar architecture of Berlin, which serves as a dreamlike scenography for the main, protagonists' ghostly actions. The work combines glimpses of the future with (unfulfilled) promises of the past. The artist goes through an in-depth process of understanding female-to-male transitioning from psychiatric, linguistic, and medical perspectives.

FtWTF (Documentary by Cordula Thym & Katharina Lampert) Identities Queer Film Festival Vienna.
Sountrack by Veronika Eberhart, feat. a contribution by Wirefoxterrier
FtWTF begins where other trans*documentaries often end. Gender reassignment via hormones and/or surgery is only one part of the exploration of one's identity - and not all trans people choose this or want to. Experiments into a life beyond the gender binary, the questioning of heteronormativity, the search for a livable masculinity that fits with one's own trans* identity, friction with the wider queer-feminist community - FtWTF covers all of this. And more: coming to terms with change, grief, cyclical endings and new beginnings. Is there ever really an endpoint; an arrival?
"The documentary FtWTF is a precise encounter with the theme of gender transgression, whereby the gender border is crossed in the same direction each time: from a specific starting point (female/woman) to a temporarily open end point ("what the fuck"). The filmmakers portray six people who for different reasons take on a transgender identity and live it out in different and changing ways.In talks that are serious yet nonetheless not anxious, which draw us in, the protagonists confront the conditions, consequences, and sometimes also bizarre circumstances of their decision. The way they do so is disarmingly open and often humorous, in a manner that is amazing to see. Due to the gorgeous images, deep insights into gender construction and sexuality are communicated with ease; and the protagonists´ obvious trust in the film project can be attributed to the directors´ impressive expertise.FtWTF has posed the immense challenge of bringing gender transformations onto the screen without tragedy and pathos, crying parents or deeply saddened relatives; no voyeuristic gazes fixed on bodies and bedrooms. The film, which can be situated at the center of queer art production, succeeds in doing all of this and much more in a way still rarely seen: likeable and eloquent, engaging in political analysis and well-informed on feminism, the film´s protagonists become heroes of gender difference, heroes who bravely live their desire for masculinity, and constantly critically question it: Each in his own way."
